A brief history of Widex hearing aids

Widex is a Danish digital hearing aid manufacturer and was originally a family business. In early 2019, they merged with another hearing aid manufacturer, Sivantos. The combined company is called WS Audiology, but the identities of Widex and Sivantos will undoubtedly remain separate.

Widex hearing aids have their own unique sound, which is often described as much softer and more comfortable than other manufacturers' hearing aids. In the UK, they own Bloom Hearing, so don't be surprised if they recommend Widex or, possibly now, Sivantos hearing aids to you.

Machine Learning

Fluid Sound Analyser

With Fluid Sound Analyser technology, Widex hearing aids are designed to automatically respond to distinct listening environments, adjusting device settings accordingly. Z-Power Rechargeability

Sound Assist

Sound Assist is designed to help with a range of situations, including one-on-one conversations, group settings, and calls, and can stream music, movies or TV audio directly to your hearing aids. It can also provide telecoil functionality even on hearing aids without built-in telecoil capability.

SoundConnect

Widex SoundConnect streams audio directly from computers to Bluetooth-enabled Widex Moment and Magnify hearing aids, useful for video calls or streaming from a computer. Other Widex accessories include RC-DEX, TV-DEX, and TV-Play.

Hearing aid apps and accessories

The Widex Moment App lets you control your hearing aids from your iPhone or Android device, and includes SoundSense Learn for personalisation. It's compatible with Apple devices running iOS 13.2 or later, iPad OS 13.3, and Apple Watch watchOS 6.1, and Android devices running Android 7.0 or higher. Note: The newer Allure app has different, more recent compatibility requirements (iOS 17+, watchOS 9+).

Android connectivity for hearing aids

Widex hearing aids are compatible with Android OS version 7 and later, with ASHA support from Android OS version 11.0. Your audiologist will confirm compatibility for your specific phone and hearing aid model.

Launched in March 2025, the Widex Allure is built on the company's new W1 chip, its first new hearing aid platform in five years, designed to deliver natural sound with low processing delay. Its PureSound and Speech Enhancer Pro features are aimed at improving speech clarity in noise, while smart feedback control and an adaptive sound classifier are designed for comfort across different environments.

Widex has recently added Clarity Boost to the range, via a new Allure AI RIC model. It's an on-demand AI mode for noisy situations, using a separate dedicated chip alongside the standard Allure processing, so your everyday sound stays the same until you switch it on. Confirmed available at the 440 and 330 technology levels, for an additional £50 per aid.

The Allure app provides easy personalisation, streaming, and AI-powered assistance, with Apple Watch compatibility. Cloud-based fitting makes adjustments more precise and efficient.

Widex SmartRIC hearing aids - Current

Widex launched the SmartRIC hearing aid range in April 2024 with a new slim L-shaped Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) hearing solution.  Powered by the Moment platform chip, this design includes microphones that are placed in such a way that they improve your directionality and focus, especially in speech targeting. 

With SmartRIC hearing aids, Widex is rethinking the way in which sound is captured within a hearing aid.  This should effectively offer you an even more natural sound with access to the voices and sounds you want to hear and better focus where you need it the most.
