In April 2024, Widex introduced the SmartRIC hearing aid range featuring a new slim L-shaped Receiver in Canal (RIC) design. Because the Widex SmartRIC 110 hearing aids are the introductory technology level, they will miss out on some of the features this range has to offer.
For example, it has 6 adjustment bands and 3 background sound analysis settings but it doesn't include background noise Speech Enhancer. The SmartRIC 110 hearing aids ideal for those who are budget-conscious, live a quiet lifestyle, have few listening needs, and have mild to severe hearing loss.
Powered by the Moment platform chip, Widex SmartRIC 110 hearing aids feature strategically positioned microphones that enhance directionality and focus, particularly in speech recognition. This advancement ensures authentic sound reproduction, granting clear access to desired voices while optimising focus where it matters most.
The redesigned shape positions microphones horizontally, enhancing directionality and signal-to-noise ratio, especially in challenging environments. This configuration improves hearing effectiveness in social settings by reducing background noise interference. Widex SmartRIC 110 hearing aids also feature updated microphone covers, reducing wind noise by 20 decibels and handling noise by 88%, ensuring more comfortable hearing.
Widex SmartRIC 110 hearing aids are rechargeable, offering an impressive 37-hour battery life and up to 7 days of charge with the portable charger. They feature a sleek design, enclosed battery, and galvanic charging for added convenience.
Compatible accessories include Widex TV PLAY for direct TV audio streaming, SOUND ASSIST for remote control and audio streaming, SOUNDCONNECT for high-quality audio streaming from personal computers, and the MOMENT APP for personalised sound adjustments and helpful tips.
Available in five stylish colours—tech black, dark cherry, honey blonde, silver grey, and rose gold—Widex SmartRIC 110 hearing aids offer both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

If you have a significant hearing loss in both ears, you should be wearing two hearing aids. Here are the audiological reasons why:
Localisation. The brain decodes information from both ears and compares and contrasts them. By analysing the miniscule time delays as well as the difference in loudness of each sound reaching the ears, the person is able to accurately locate a sound source. Simply put, if you have better hearing on one side than the other, you can't accurately tell what direction sounds are coming from.
Less amplification required. A phenomena known as “binaural summation” means that the hearing aids can be set at a lower and more natural volume setting than than if you wore only one hearing aid.
Head shadow effect. High frequencies, the part of your hearing that gives clarity and meaning to speech sounds, cannot bend around your head. Only low frequencies can. Therefore if someone is talking on your unaided side you are likely to hear that they are speaking, but be unable to tell what they have said.
Noise reduction. The brain has it’s own built in noise reduction which is only really effective when it is receiving information from both ears. If only one ear is aided, even with the best hearing aid in the world, it will be difficult for you to hear in background noise as your brain is trying to retain all of the sounds (including background noise) rather than filtering it out.
Sound quality. We are designed to hear in stereo. Only hearing from one side sounds a lot less natural to us.
