Free online hearing tests are quick assessments to evaluate your hearing ability from home. These tests typically involve listening to various tones and words through headphones.

While they can indicate potential hearing issues, they aren't a substitute for professional evaluations by audiologists for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Concerned about how well you hear?

There are roughly 1 in 6 people with hearing loss, and often these people have other health complications related to hearing loss, such as diabetes. This is why it is so important to understand and know the level of your hearing.

Although they do not replace an appointment with an audiologist for an accurate medical diagnosis, online hearing tests are a great way of giving you an idea of how well you are currently hearing.

Online hearing test tones and frequencies

Our hearing aid providers and audiology experts have designed a free online hearing test to assist anyone who is either curious to know more about their level of hearing or concerned about how well they can hear.

This test helps identify any challenges you may have in understanding speech, which can be supported by hearing aids if needed.

Before our online hearing test with headphones, remember to:

  1. Find a quiet place with no risk of interruptions.
  2. Use headphones if possible, as this will give you a more accurate result.
  3. Test the sound before you start the test.
  4. You're ready to go!

UK Online Hearing Test

How does the free online hearing test with results work?

Our free online hearing test will take you through a series of different hearing scenarios, so doing the test in a quiet environment is recommended, as well as using your headphones rather than your computer speakers.

Your results will then be emailed directly to you which will roughly state if you have good, fair, or poor hearing.  You can then, if needed, make the important steps to booking a hearing test.

Hearing Aid UK can put you in touch with your local audiologist to seek professional hearing health care, support, and more importantly, an accurate diagnosis.

Online Hearing Test Accuracy

How old do you have to be to take the test?  Just like any online hearing test and audiogram - you can be any age to take the test.

Common FAQs about our free online hearing test

Is the online hearing test free? Where can I take the test?

Yes, it is, all you have to do is follow the instructions and fill out the information so we can send your results directly to you. For better results, we recommend you do the test in a quiet environment where you are less likely to be interrupted.

How long does the online hearing test take? What happens after the test?

Our test only takes three minutes to complete and afterwards you will get your results straight away via email.  If the online hearing test indicates a loss, you can call us to book a professional hearing test at home or in a clinic near you.

It is then that you will get an accurate diagnosis from an audiologist and if needed a treatment plan and hearing solution based on your results.

Can I get hearing aids after the online hearing test?

In short, no, you can only get diagnosed with hearing loss from an audiologist who will go through the most beneficial hearing solutions and hearing aids with your hearing loss level and needs in mind.

I have tinnitus, will it affect my test online?

In reality, it can. This is because the tinnitus sounds you hear, like buzzing and ringing, can make it more challenging to hear the sounds during the testing process. In this situation, we advise that you book a free hearing test with one of our audiologists to see what tinnitus solutions are the most beneficial for you.
