The Starkey Omega AI 20 is a premium mid-tier model in the Omega AI series, designed to offer intelligent hearing with advanced AI-driven sound processing at a more accessible level. Featuring the powerful G3 Neuro Processor and DNN 360 directionality, it delivers clear speech, reduces background noise, and adapts to your everyday UK lifestyle.
What makes this particularly clever is that you're getting the same core AI technology as the flagship AI 24, just with slightly fewer bells and whistles - which, for many people, is exactly what they need. Perfect for conversations in cafés, meetings, or streaming TV at home, the Omega AI 20 provides reliable performance, comfort, and connectivity — without compromising on the core intelligence of the Omega AI range.
Whether you're navigating a busy GP surgery waiting room, following along at a family gathering, or simply trying to hear the checkout assistant properly at your local supermarket, these hearing aids adapt to move through your day with you.
Omega AI 20 harnesses DNN 360, a deep-neural-network system that analyses sounds from every direction, distinguishing speech from noise. While it shares the same AI foundation as the AI 24, it operates with slightly fewer advanced algorithms, making it ideal for users seeking premium sound clarity with fewer extra customisations.
Think of it rather like choosing a well-equipped car over the fully loaded version - you're still getting the intelligent engine and the features that actually matter for daily driving. Testing indicates improved speech intelligibility by up to 25% in noisy environments, allowing you to enjoy conversations even in challenging situations. The AI learns from real-life sounds, adapting quickly to your hearing environment.
This means that in practical terms, you'll catch conversations you would have missed with older technology - the difference is genuinely noticeable, not just something that looks good on paper.
For particularly noisy settings — such as restaurants, public events, or social gatherings — Edge Mode can be activated via the app or a discreet button to prioritise speech clarity.
We've all been stuck in those situations where background noise is so overwhelming that you end up just smiling and nodding - Edge Mode is designed specifically for those moments when you really need to hear what's being said. This model offers smart adaptive adjustments, giving a focused listening experience without needing constant manual changes.
The rechargeable RIC RT version provides up to 48 hours of use, including streaming, while the mini RIC R model lasts around 28 hours. Both models are optimised for efficiency via the G3 processor, supporting fast charging for quick top-ups.

Rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, Omega AI 20 is built to withstand real-world conditions. Whether you're caught in drizzle, working up a sweat in the garden, or simply living your normal life, these hearing aids are designed to cope without fuss.
It features a toughened resin shell, improved coating, and LED indicators for power, Bluetooth connectivity, and the “Find My Hearing Aid” feature. Because searching for misplaced hearing aids is frustrating enough without having to do it in the dark, the LED locator is one of those small features that makes a big difference when you actually need it.
Ergonomic microphones and updated venting reduce wind noise and occlusion, providing natural sound and comfort throughout the day. This might not sound particularly exciting until you've experienced hearing aids that make your own voice sound like you're talking inside a bucket, or that amplify every breeze into something rather distracting - then you'll appreciate the difference.
Omega AI 20 supports Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, hands-free calling for compatible devices, and direct streaming from TV or music devices. The connection is reliable enough that you'll actually use these features regularly rather than finding them too fiddly to bother with - which is how connectivity should work but often doesn't. It is also Auracast-ready, and some models include an integrated telecoil for UK induction-loop systems in public venues.
The My Starkey app allows remote fine-tuning, access to Virtual Care, and support from the TeleHear Gen AI Assistant, helping with troubleshooting and settings adjustments. This is particularly useful if you notice something needs adjusting on a Saturday evening - you can sort it out there and then rather than waiting until Monday to ring your audiologist.
Omega AI 20 includes motion and balance sensors, supports Balance Builder exercises (developed with Stanford University), and can monitor step count and general activity through the app. While slightly fewer wellness metrics are available than the AI 24, it still acts as a proactive health companion for everyday wellbeing.
If you're interested in keeping an eye on your general health and activity levels, this is a nice bonus feature - though the primary job remains helping you hear properly, which is as it should be.
Compatible with Starkey StarLink accessories — such as the Remote Microphone, Table Microphone, and TV Streamer — for enhanced performance in complex listening environments. If you find you need extra help in specific situations, these accessories can make a genuine difference - though many people manage perfectly well without them for everyday use.
The portable StarLink Charger+ can recharge your devices on the go while helping protect against moisture. Ideal for weekends away or longer trips where you want peace of mind that you've got backup power sorted.
The Omega AI 20 is ideal for those with mild-to-moderate hearing loss who want advanced performance without paying for the absolute top-tier model. This is the sweet spot for many people - you're getting genuinely intelligent, adaptive hearing technology that works brilliantly in everyday situations, just without some of the more specialist features that you may not actually need. Choose this if you want:
The Omega AI 20 is particularly good for people who've struggled with hearing aids that work acceptably in quiet rooms but fall apart in more challenging environments. If you're tired of constantly removing your aids in noisy places because they're more hindrance than help, the intelligent sound processing could make a real difference to your confidence and social life.
Omega AI 20 is available in a variety of Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) and custom in-ear styles, with multiple colours for a discreet, personalised fit:
While not as feature-rich as the AI 24, the Omega AI 20 offers a perfect balance of performance, AI-driven sound, and cost-effectiveness. It’s ideal for users who want intelligent hearing and connectivity but don’t require the full range of premium wellness or Edge Mode+ enhancements.
What you're essentially getting is the clever, adaptive AI technology that makes the Omega range so impressive, just without paying extra for features you might never use. For many people, this represents better value than automatically going for the top-tier model simply because it exists.
✔️ Intelligent AI technology at a more accessible price. The Omega AI 20 uses the same core G3 Neuro Processor and DNN 360 system as the flagship AI 24, just with slightly fewer advanced customisations - you're getting the clever adaptive technology without paying for extras you may not need.

✔️ Edge Mode for challenging situations. When background noise becomes overwhelming, activate Edge Mode to prioritise speech clarity without constant manual adjustments - perfect for busy restaurants, family gatherings, or crowded events.
✔️ Solid battery life for everyday confidence. Up to 48 hours on the RIC RT model means you can wear them all day without battery anxiety, with fast-charge functionality for quick top-ups when needed.
✔️ Built for weather and real life. IP68 water and dust resistance means drizzle, garden work, or gym sessions won't cause you concern. Improved coating and ergonomic design reduce wind noise and that uncomfortable "talking in a bucket" sensation.
✔️ Reliable connectivity that you'll actually use. Bluetooth LE Audio, hands-free calling, and TV streaming work consistently enough that you'll genuinely use these features rather than finding them too fiddly - plus Auracast-ready for future compatibility.
✔️ Health tracking as a useful bonus. Motion sensors, Balance Builder exercises, and step tracking provide wellness monitoring alongside hearing support, though the primary focus remains on helping you hear properly.
✔️ The sweet spot between performance and value. This mid-tier model offers genuinely impressive AI-driven technology at a more accessible price than the top-tier AI 24, making it ideal for people who want intelligent, adaptive hearing without paying for specialist features they may not use.

Not only are the prices great, but the service is fantastic! Many thanks to your team.In general, any audiologist will always recommend to you the hearing aid model that best suits your needs. Here is a useful checklist to make sure that is the case.
If you have significant hearing loss in both ears, you should be wearing two hearing aids. Here are the audiological reasons why:
Localisation: The brain decodes information from both ears and compares and contrasts them. By analysing the minuscule time delays as well as the difference in the loudness of each sound reaching the ears, the person is able to accurately locate a sound source.
Simply put, if you have better hearing on one side than the other, you can't accurately tell what direction sounds are coming from.
Less amplification is required: A phenomenon known as “binaural summation” means that the hearing aids can be set at a lower and more natural volume setting than if you wore only one hearing aid.
Head shadow effect: High frequencies, the part of your hearing that gives clarity and meaning to speech sounds, cannot bend around your head. Only low frequencies can. Therefore, if someone is talking on your unaided side, you are likely to hear that they are speaking, but be unable to tell what they have said.
Noise reduction: The brain has its own built-in noise reduction, which is only really effective when it is receiving information from both ears. If only one ear is aided, even with the best hearing aid in the world, it will be difficult for you to hear in background noise as your brain is trying to retain all of the sounds (including background noise) rather than filtering them out.
Sound quality: We are designed to hear in stereo. Only hearing from one side sounds a lot less natural to us.

For most people, the main benefit of a rechargeable hearing aid is simple convenience. We are used to plugging in our phones and other devices overnight for them to charge up. Here are some other pros and cons:
For anybody with poor dexterity or issues with their fingers, having a rechargeable aid makes a huge difference, as normal hearing aid batteries are quite small and some people find them fiddly to change.
One downside is that if you forget to charge your hearing aid, then it is a problem that can't be instantly fixed. For most, a 30-minute charge will get you at least two or three hours of hearing, but if you are the type of person who is likely to forget to plug them in regularly, then you're probably better off with standard batteries.
Rechargeable aids are also a little bit bigger and are only available in Behind-the-Ear models.
Finally, just like with a mobile phone, the amount of charge you get on day one is not going to be the same as you get a few years down the line. Be sure to ask what the policy is with the manufacturer's warranty when it comes to replacing the battery.
For most people, the answer is yes. But it's never that simple.
The majority of hearing problems affect the high frequencies a lot more than the low ones. Therefore, open fitting hearing aids sound a lot more natural and ones that block your ears up can make your own voice sound like you are talking with your head in a bucket. Therefore, in-ear aids tend to be less natural.
However, the true answer is we can't tell until we have had a look in your ears to assess the size of your ear canal, and until we have tested your hearing to see which frequencies are being affected.
People with wider ear canals tend to have more flexibility, also there are open fitting modular CIC hearing aids now that do not block your ears.
There is also the age-old rule to consider, that a hearing aid will not help you if it's sat in the drawer gathering dust. If the only hearing aid you would be happy wearing is one that people can't see, then that's what you should get.
Most people can adapt to any type of hearing aid, as long as they know what to expect. Have an honest conversation with your audiologist as to what your needs are.
Generally speaking, six or more. Unless it's none at all. The number of channels a hearing aid has is often a simplistic way an audiologist will use to explain why one hearing aid is better than another, but channels are complex, and it is really not that straightforward. Here are some reasons why:
Hearing aids amplify sounds of different frequencies by different amounts. Most people have lost more high frequencies than low, and therefore need more amplification in the high frequencies. The range of sounds you hear is split into frequency bands or channels, and the hearing aids are set to provide the right amount of hearing at each frequency level.
Less than six channels, and this cannot be done with much accuracy, so six is the magic number. However, a six-channel aid is typically very basic with few other features and is suitable only for hearing a single speaker in a quiet room. The number of channels is not what you should be looking at; it's more the rest of the technology that comes with them.
As a final note, different manufacturers have different approaches. One method is not necessarily better than any other. For example, some manufacturers have as many as 64 channels in their top aids. Most tend to have between 17 and 20. One manufacturer has no channels at all.
Manufacturer's warranties typically last between 2-5 years, depending on the brand and model, and cover defects in materials and workmanship. This includes repairs for component failures, electronic malfunctions, and manufacturing defects, but excludes damage from misuse, accidents, or normal wear. Most manufacturers also include loss and damage insurance for the first year.
We handle all warranty claims on your behalf, liaising with manufacturers and ensuring you get replacement devices quickly when needed. This comprehensive warranty coverage, combined with our lifetime aftercare, gives you complete peace of mind.
Our hearing tests are completely free, whether at our clinics or in your home. Unlike other providers who charge £30-£100 for home visits, we believe hearing healthcare should be accessible without financial barriers. Our comprehensive assessments include examination by a registered audiologist, audiogram results, and personalised recommendations.
All testing, future adjustments, and ongoing support are included at no extra cost. While NHS tests are also free, typical 6-week waiting periods often lead people to seek immediate private testing. We provide prompt, professional assessments that fit your schedule and budget.
Yes, we offer completely free home visits throughout the UK, and this service is included in our prices with no additional charges. Home visits are particularly valuable for people with mobility issues, busy schedules, or those who simply prefer the comfort and convenience of their own environment.
Our audiologists can conduct full hearing tests, fit hearing aids, and provide ongoing support in your home. This service sets us apart from many providers who either don't offer home visits or charge extra for them.
We can offer prices up to 40% lower than high street retailers because of our business model. As a network of 200+ independent audiologists, we don't have the massive overheads of large retail chains - no expensive high street premises, no sales targets pushing audiologists to sell the most expensive options, and no costly marketing campaigns.
However, we maintain the same buying power as the big chains because we purchase on behalf of our entire nationwide network. This means you get access to the same premium hearing aids with professional service, but at genuinely competitive prices.
We offer a comprehensive 60-day money-back guarantee, which gives you twice the industry standard time to properly assess whether your hearing aids are right for you. This extended period recognises that adjusting to hearing aids takes time, and your brain needs several weeks to adapt to the amplified sounds.
Unlike many providers who offer just 30 days, we believe 60 days gives you the confidence to test your hearing aids in all the situations that matter to you - from quiet conversations at home to busy restaurants and outdoor activities.
