Below is our comparison chart of Resound Nexia hearing aids vs Resound Omnia hearing aids in the premium rechargeable models - Nexia 9 and Omnia 9. When comparing hearing aids from the same brand, we look at what has stayed the same, what has changed and what are the advantages of opting for the latest offering.
To start with, both Nexia and Omnia are compatible with the Resound Smart 3D app and all three chargers. These are the premium, standard, and desktop charging solutions. They are also both compatible with hearing aid accessories, such as Multi Mic, Unite Phone Clip+, Unite Remote Control 2, and Unite TV Streamer 2.Â
However, there is a new TV Streamer+ that launched along with Nexia and includes the Auracast Bluetooth Audio technology - not included in the Resound Omnia platform.
Nexia launched in February 2024, which is just one year after the release of Omnia. Overall, the sound processing, algorithms, app, and the way Nexia handles noise are the same. However, the main difference is their smallest offering - the microRIE.
This new model is very discreet and around 25% smaller than their standard RICs. This model is also rechargeable, with 30 hours of battery life, and a 150% improvement in speech understanding in noise.
Another change would be their wireless connectivity advancements. Resound Nexia includes Auracast, allowing Auracast streaming in public places. This protocol will eventually replace the old loop systems which feature in places of worship and conference centres.
Â
If your existing hearing aids are due for an upgrade, then yes, Nexia is simply a great hearing aid worth considering. If you've only just invested in Omnia you might be wondering if it's worth the switch. With Omnia, you'll miss out on Auracast LE audio which will be the new Bluetooth standard - still in its infancy.Â
Realistically this doesn't mean an awful lot currently, but in a few years, it will. Other than that? As stated earlier, the usual big improvements to look out for when comparing two hearing aid ranges, like sound processing and noise handling, remain the same.Â
However, we think the main pull will be the smaller RIC - ideal for those who want discretion and rechargeability but can't wear an In-Ear option. For those who can, Resound Nexia includes custom hearing aid models.
Â
Hearing aid technology advances constantly and it's important to know when it's time to replace the ones you already have. For example, you might find that your current hearing aids aren't supporting your hearing like they used to.Â
This might be because your hearing loss has changed and you now need more features and programmes that aren't accessible to you.Â
Our audiologists can help you understand your new hearing loss needs and specifications and the hearing solutions that can get your hearing back on track.
