Mike has been an audiologist for over 20 years, building a career that started in the national chain environment. After five years working for Amplifon, Mike founded his own practice in 2008, becoming a fully independent audiologist with the freedom to put his patients first, without the commercial pressures that come with working for a large retailer. That decision says a lot about how he approaches his work.
What sets Mike apart is his genuinely patient-led approach to hearing aid fitting. Rather than recommending a single solution based on an audiogram alone, he typically has patients trial a minimum of three different hearing systems, comparing them in real listening conditions to find what works best subjectively as well as clinically. It takes longer than the standard approach. It also produces far better outcomes and far more confident patients.
Mike splits his time between his busy clinic and home visits, bringing the same thorough, unhurried assessment to patients wherever they are most comfortable being seen. For anyone who finds the idea of a clinic appointment daunting, or who simply cannot get out easily, that flexibility makes a genuine difference.
Outside of audiology, Mike has twin daughters who keep him more than occupied, and a longstanding passion for sport. In 2018, he won the hearing industry golf tournament, which his patients are welcome to bring up at appointments.
