Hearing Aid UK's Latest Update: 24
Your home is actually one of the best places to have a hearing test and fitting done. Our audiologists can hear how sound travels through your rooms, adjust your hearing aids around the devices you use every day, and take the time to get things right in the environment where you actually live your life.
Hearing Aid UK offers free home visits across the UK through its network of over 200 HCPC-registered audiologists, covering hearing tests, fittings and aftercare. No waiting rooms, no transport to arrange, and no compromise on care.
Wherever you live, one of our audiologists in your area can visit you at home for a comprehensive, professional hearing test using the latest computerised equipment, all in the comfort of your own home, at a time that suits you. On this page, we talk about common questions, misconceptions, and worries about having hearing healthcare at home.
Not sure a hearing aid is even the right next step? That's exactly what a free hearing test is for. There's no obligation, no product being pushed, and no pressure to decide anything on the day. A home visit simply gets you a clear, independent answer about what's going on with your hearing.

Almost 80% of people over 70 will have some degree of hearing loss, according to RNID. RNID also notes that hearing loss is associated with dementia, although the link is complex and not yet fully understood.
If getting to a clinic is part of what's putting you off a hearing test, a home visit takes that barrier away.

Audiology home visiting services in the UK are provided by HCPC-registered audiologists who offer support and care for those with hearing problems in the comfort of their own homes.
If getting to a clinic is difficult, whether that's down to mobility, health, or simply the practicalities of getting out, a home visit means the care comes to you instead.

Yes. Unlike some hearing aid providers, we carry out hearing tests at home for free, and there's no obligation to buy anything afterwards.
In fact, here at Hearing Aid UK, our audiologists have always offered free at-home hearing healthcare services across the UK.
Over the years, our audiologists have helped thousands of people find the right hearing solution for them in their own homes.
This includes hearing tests, fittings, maintenance, check-ups, and much more in the comfort of your own home, at the home of a loved one, or in a nursing home environment, at your convenience.

Our network of over 200 audiologists provides professional nationwide coverage. This means we can provide home visits for hearing aid services throughout the UK.
So wherever you live, there is always at least one of our independent audiologists covering your area who is ready to assist with all your hearing healthcare needs.
You choose where your appointments happen: at home, or at one of our 93+ local clinics.
Whilst our audiologists can operate in shops, clinics, or day audiology centres, there are a lot of benefits to our home visiting services too.
In fact, many of our customers choose them, and in some cases, they can be a lifeline for people whose health or circumstances make travelling difficult.

You'd be surprised how many high street retailers don't offer home visits in any capacity, or if they do, the service is very limited or chargeable.
Hearing aid dispensing started as a tailor-made home service, but most providers now run their services from clinics and shops.
That's always surprised us, because the people who'd benefit most from a home visit are often the ones who find it hardest to get to a clinic.
Some NHS hearing services can also arrange home visits, but this depends on where you live. Our guide to NHS and private hearing aids explains how the two compare.

Before David Ormerod Hearing Centres rebranded as Boots Hearingcare, they originally provided their customers with a home visiting service. Now they can only provide in-store appointments.
Specsavers Hearingcare offers a home visit service in some areas, at the discretion of the Specsavers franchisee. In some areas, this is a free service; in other areas, they charge per visit, with waiting times for follow-up appointments of up to six months.
As of July 2026, Hidden Hearing and Amplifon have merged into a single brand, Audika, following Amplifon's full exit from the UK market and its sale to Demant, the company that already owned Hidden Hearing. If you were previously with either provider, your aftercare has now transferred to Audika, though which audiologist looks after you may depend on whether they've joined the merged business.
Both predecessor companies offered home visits before the merger; Hidden Hearing's service was free of charge, while Amplifon's was chargeable and not available in every location.
What this looks like under the combined Audika brand, whether it's free, chargeable, or varies by former provider and area, hasn't yet been independently confirmed, so we'd recommend checking directly with Audika for your specific postcode rather than relying on the old Hidden Hearing or Amplifon terms.
Scrivens does not, at this time, provide any home visiting services; whether this will change, we are unsure. No matter who you book with, always check if there is an additional fee before arranging an appointment to avoid any surprises.
Home visit terms vary a lot between providers and areas, from free to chargeable to not offered at all. Hearing Aid UK's home visits are free wherever you live in the UK.

"If you can hear the TV but not what's being said over it, that's not a volume problem, it's a clarity problem. It's also one of the most common things a home visit picks up that a general chat never would, because we're testing you in the room where it actually happens".
says Paul Harrison, Audiology Expert and Founder of Hearing Aid UK
Both are free, both include the same aftercare, and both are carried out by the same HCPC-registered audiologists. Which one suits you best usually comes down to convenience rather than quality of care.

Hearing aid programming and fitting in the most natural environment for you, which is your home! Having your digital hearing aids fitted in the most common way you'll use them gives you a clear picture of how your devices will work.
You'll get real-time connectivity to your devices. You can be taught there and then how to use, adjust, and connect to your at-home devices, so you can start taking advantage of the features straight away, such as Bluetooth.
You can build a strong and supportive relationship with your audiologist. Being in your comfort zone allows you to absorb any information naturally and confidently, and can help you open up more about your expectations and worries regarding your hearing loss and wearing hearing aids.
It's more convenient for you, so you don't have to miss out on anything, and you can book an appointment that fits your lifestyle. Avoid waiting in sitting rooms and waiting for transport, and if you don't drive, it can become an essential service.
We are finding that more and more people in later life rely on a home visiting service, as getting to the practice can be difficult, not to mention tiring. It can also mean one less appointment to juggle alongside everything else.
You pay the same price whether you visit the practice or have an appointment at home. Your home hearing test is free with no obligation. If you go ahead, every fitting and aftercare visit is included in the price of your hearing aids, so there are no call-out fees or hidden extras.

We also assist the needs of the elderly with their hearing loss, either at home or in assisted living and care homes. We believe that no one should be restricted from hearing the sounds of life.

Can my hearing aids be fitted and programmed at home? Yes. Your audiologist fits and programmes your hearing aids in person, in your own home, just as they would in a clinic.
After analysing the results of your audiogram, your hearing loss needs, your lifestyle, the technology you require, and how much connectivity you would like, you're ready to be fitted with the right hearing aids for you.

Our professional HCPC-registered audiologists will ask about your health, family history, and hearing concerns to personalise your care. Everything is confidential.
First, we'll take a gentle look in your ears to check for anything that might be affecting your hearing, like a build-up of earwax. Then we'll carry out a full hearing test; it's straightforward and nothing to worry about. If earwax is an issue, we can often arrange removal on the same visit.
Once we have your results, we'll walk you through what they mean clearly, no jargon, no confusion. Then we'll talk through the hearing aid options that make the most sense for you. There's no pressure to decide on the day.
If you decide to go ahead, your audiologist comes back at a follow-up visit to fit your hearing aids. They'll programme them to your hearing test results, fine-tune them in the rooms you actually use, and help you connect them to your phone or TV.
Follow-up visits and fine-tuning are included for the life of your hearing aids with aftercare for life, and you're covered by our 60-day money-back guarantee.

Hearing Aid UK's home visits are free across the UK and carried out by HCPC-registered audiologists, with your hearing aids fine-tuned in the place you'll actually wear them.
Whether getting out is difficult or you'd simply rather not, it's the same service at no extra cost.
