In 2013 Phonak launched the Naida Q30 which is their fourth (essential) level of power hearing aid technology. Despite being the basic model in the range, these hearing aids still feature the new Quest (‘Q’) chip technology and have a good range of features. This Quest technology means faster sound processing and even better sound quality along with the extra power for your hearing loss. The Q30 has replaced the previous Naida S1.
These hearing aids are available in a choice of 3 styles.
The Q-RIC is the Receiver In Canal option in this power range and has an attractive design with a choice of many different colours from subtle and traditional to bold and vibrant. This hearing aid can be connected to the range of wireless accessories available from Phonak and also offers Telecoil and FM. This hearing aid is also designed to be water resistant.
The Q-SP is a BTE (Behind The Ear) hearing aid that has a slim tube option. This hearing aid comes with the same choice of subtle or bold colours and is water resistant. It also incorporates the Telecoil and FM options and has wireless capability.
The Q-UP is the slightly larger hearing aid but also offers the most power. This model comes with the same choice of colours, is water resistant and also has a longer battery life. It also features the Telecoil and FM options and is fully wireless.
The Naida Q30 basic hearing aids still come with Phonak’s new ‘Q’ (Quest) sound processing technology. Phonak’s new Binaural VoiceStream technology means that your hearing aids can communicate wirelessly with each other and actually share information to further improve your listening experience. There are also some new binaural features available that vary depending on the technology level you choose.
The Naida Q30 has 8 sound processing channels to help program your hearing aid but this is significantly fewer than the other models in this range. It does still offer the NoiseBlock and WhistleBlock features to get rid of unwanted noise and SoundRecover, which helps with the high frequency sounds.
The Naida Q30 is still compatible with Phonak’s range of wireless accessories. You can use your Compilot accessory, which sits conveniently around your neck to connect to the TV Link, which will stream the sound from your television directly into your hearing aids. By attaching the Remote Mic accessory to another person’s clothing, you can still enjoy a normal conversation whatever listening environment you are in as this device will send their voice straight into your hearing aids.
The Verdict
The Phonak Naida Q30 is the fourth (essential) level of technology in this new range of power hearing instruments and is a more basic option. They are still suitable for people who require more power when it comes to their hearing loss. It is available in 3 different styles and has a choice of traditional and bold colours to suit your individual preference and style. The Naida Q30 has replaced the previous Naida S1.
