The Phonak Audeo Paradise hearing aid range was launched on 19th August 2020, initially only in the Audeo Receiver in Canal (RIC) hearing aid style and now this range includes various styles and models.
Is Phonak Paradise the best hearing aid? Along with a new look and new technology - Audeo Paradise hearing aids are said to offer today's consumers advanced sound quality, a personable hearing experience, universal Bluetooth connectivity and much more.
The Phonak Marvel hearing aid is this range's predecessor, and even though it was popular with consumers - there was room for improvement. Audeo Paradise trumps Marvel in a few areas such as speech enhancement, sound processing and connectivity.
Read on to discover more about these improvements and to see whether this hearing aid is right for you.
This Made for Any Phone hearing aid has advanced on what Marvel did right and improved on what needed focus. But, why do Phonak Audeo Paradise digital hearing aids make for an interesting hearing aid range?
There are seven main improvements in the Audeo Paradise hearing aids from Phonak. Let's take a look at these improvements by comparing Phonak and Marvel hearing aids and how they can help you and your hearing loss.
So, what's new since Marvel? Let's start with the connectivity. This addition offers universal connectivity, as it pairs up to eight different devices and allows for two to be actively paired at the same time. Previously, you could only have one connection that was active with the Marvel hearing aid range.
Why is this beneficial? Well, it's all about the convenience of switching between your favourite devices at home faster and easier. You pair a device to your hearing aids and then it's stored - no fuss and no reconnecting.
You might think you won't need to pair upto eight devices, but you'd be amazed at how many devices you use everyday - there maybe four or five you use and this could increase over time. With technology advancements, there might be more you'd want to easily access - effectively this universal connectivity is future-proof.
Connecting this way means that when you are streaming audio on your laptop you can answer calls without any trouble. This is also great if you have both a personal and work phone and wanted to access them simultaneously without having to switch your Bluetooth on and off each phone.
This feature gives you true hands-free calls, pause/resume streaming capabilities and voice assistants like Siri and Alexa.
Why is this beneficial? Like universal connectivity, it is convenient and can make your life easier. You just simply tap your hearing aid and you can control your Bluetooth features and answer and end calls. You can also stream audio and then tap your hearing aid to pause and resume at your pleasure.
You can even set up this feature to activate digital assistants - your audiologist can help you set it up so it is more personable to you and how you will use it on a daily basis. You can also do this yourself through the myPhonak app in your own time. Using the tap control features this way enables you to access voice searches and you can even ask them to open your apps.
These, along with other features, power the above tap control feature and simply gives you a better hearing experience on the go. The low-power accelerometer knows when you are on the go and adjusts the hearing aid's microphones and the setting of the noise cancellation.
Why are they beneficial? If your hearing aid understands and reacts to your movement it will offer you better access to feature management and decisions of what happens in the processor. This could be adjusting the device's microphones and noise-cancelling settings.
We think you'll notice the benefits of this feature more when you are walking and talking at the same time. Phonak's Motion Sensors allows you to access sound and speech on the go without the annoyance of turning your head to hear who you are talking to, even in busy listening environments - like shopping centres.
You can now benefit from clearer speech in quiet environments. The Phonak Paradise reacts quicker to the complexities of loudness in all sounds as well as offering more comfort. Since Marvel, there is also better amplification of soft speech in quiet listening environments.
Why is this useful? This can assist those who find it difficult to hear soft speech, especially in quiet atmospheres. So your listening experience will be seamless. To put this in perspective, you are in the kitchen writing and a member of your family is in the living room reading.
The atmosphere is quiet and usually in that scenario when getting the other person's attention you'd feel there was no need to raise your voice to be heard because there is little or no background noise. In this situation, with this feature, you would hear and understand what has been said. Those with difficulty hearing soft speech might struggle in this situation usually.
This is basically a suppression system that allows for better noise reduction in challenging environments, which you can control through the app or leave automatic. There is a further signal-to-noise ratio 4dB boost if you need it.
Why might you need this? This would be handy if you needed an extra boost in challenging environments, so your hearing aids would assist you more effectively. This might be set by your audiologist, knowing your unique needs in such environments or you can activate it as and when you need that boost on the go - such as socialising in a busy restaurant.
Phonak Audeo Paradise comes with a completely new chip that powers some great new features we didn't see in Marvel. This new chip offers double the memory we saw in Marvel - also giving you better connectivity.
This is arguably the most significant change in this new model called the PRISM sound processing chip or Processing Real-time Intelligent Sound Management. It also features double the memory of the Phonak Marvel model and a greater scope of Bluetooth connectivity options with this low-power consumption Made for Any Phone hearing aid.
Why is this a good improvement? Due to this new sound-processing chip, Paradise hearing aids can offer a little more power out of the hearing aid.
For example, the Ultra Power Receiver (UP) offers 71 dB of gain and a max power output of 132. So when we take Marvel into consideration, Paradise is 4 and 2 dB over the last Phonak range. All the powers - Power, Medium and Standard get a 1dB increase in gain.
Finally, the myPhonak 5.0 app has improved with more functions such as a hearing diary to record how you use your devices. There is also the ability to contact your hearing care professional for remote adjustments and to give them important data about how well your hearing so they can recommend different settings.
The new chipset also provides the power needed to boost Phonak Audeo Paradise's features and the main source of power for the new ones - especially the Motion-Sensors. Phonak knows how important the concept of motion is to wearers and that's where this technology comes in.
It allows them to gain better hearing and sound focus in either walking or running hearing experiences when you are talking to someone else. On paper, this should mean better conversation in noise and movement, as well as natural sound and focus.
The Motion-Sensors also have another important role within the technology of Paradise and that is to manage the new Tap Control feature in the digital hearing aid.
The Tap Control feature is definitely going to be one of the highlights of this new hearing aid - offering more functionality and control to the wearer. In fact, it offers up to eight Bluetooth devices to be paired, as well as two to be connected at the same time. Giving you multifunctional Bluetooth connectivity.
You can accept/end calls, pause/resume streaming and activate Voice Assistant on your smartphone - such as Siri. Using the Voice Assistant and Tap Control together makes for easy-going access to great control and functionality, without the annoyance of multiple button pressing. But, what about Phonak Paradise hearing aid compatibility?
myPhonak app: Bluetooth 4.2 and iOS 12.0 or Android 7.0.
Streaming wireless calls and music: Bluetooth version 2.1, optimally 4.2 and higher.
I think it's important to highlight the importance of the Phonak rechargeable hearing aids in the Paradise hearing aid range, as they are in some ways going to be important to you and maybe the deciding factor of which performance level, depending on what features you want.
Are Phonak Audeo Paradise rechargeable hearing aids a better option? Yes, I believe, that they are no doubt a better option if the technical 'extras' are important to you. When talking about the Tap Control and Motion-Sensors of Paradise, you can only benefit from these with, in some cases, only the premium specifications and, in both cases, the rechargeables. To make this more clear (may differ for each style):
Tap Control: Available only in the rechargeable versions of the P90 and P70.
Motion-Senors: Available only in the rechargeable versions of the P90, P70 and P50.
Speech Enhancer: Available only in the P90 model.
Dynamic Noise Cancellation: Available only in the P90 model.
Phonak has stated that a fully charged Paradise hearing aid should deliver 16 hours of power. This statistic is based on 8 hours of listening, 4 hours of streaming (audio via Bluetooth Classic) and 4 hours of TV Connector for Phonak Paradise hearing aids usage. Technically, if you're not streaming - you could potentially get 24 hours of battery power.
This feature's job is to make the softest of sounds easier to hear in quiet situations. It is also only available in the Paradise P90 model.
This is a suppression system that offers a better hearing experience in challenging situations. You can also control the level of cancellation using the app. Benefit from around 4dB signal to noise ratio boost. This, again, is only available in the Paradise P90 model.
The colours available in all the Phonak Audeo Paradise hearing aid models are: Sand beige, silver grey, velvet black, beige, chestnut, graphite grey and champagne.
The new myPhonak hearing aid app is pretty much the same as the one you may have used in the past with improvements to the Speech Focus 'slider' to reduce noise from behind and from the side, as well as improving on speech in front of you.
Phonak Audeo Paradise hearing aids come in the usual four performance levels. These are: P90 (Premium), P70 (Advanced), P50 (Standard) and P30 (Essential). More on these further down the page in the product listing.

Below we go through the main Phonak hearing aid models in the Paradise platform, but here is a breakdown of the full lineup:
In brief, when it was launched it was the first superpower hearing aid with universal Bluetooth capability - featuring Marvel 2.0 technology and Roger Direct connection. Offering power users multifunctional features, powerful sound and direct connection to their favourite Bluetooth devices.
With Phonak Naida Paradise hearing aids, you can gain from the flexibility of streaming into both hearing aids at the same time for a more clear sound that is 10 times more natural (using a Roger Pen). You can also use your Roger microphones to assist speech understanding in noise and over distance.
Phonak Paradise hearing aids will be available in their popular Virto line of custom-made hearing aids, which includes their extra discreet Titanium model. In all honesty, Phonak was due a new ITE custom-made hearing aid style and we predict these additional styles will be accepted well by consumers.

It is also worth mentioning that due to the Paradise hearing aids being a big step up since Marvel, mainly because of their new PRISM chipset - there would be no reason to invest in ITE models from the Marvel range. For instance, the Phonak M-Titanium hearing aids are being replaced by the Virto P model.
The Phonak Virto Paradise hearing aids combine discretion, a powerful PRISM chip, Paradise technology and advanced speech understanding.

The Phonak Audeo Life is a completely new hearing aid, with a new outer case that has specifically designed microphone ports. The key highlight here though is that it is waterproof. Life hearing aids can be submerged in around 1.64 feet of either fresh, salt or pool water.
Following a Phonak marketing research questionnaire back in 2020, 68% of people who wear hearing aids said they felt anxious about wearing their hearing aids in or around water. Phonak has challenged this consensus by making these devices an ideal hearing solution for those who often put their devices in more challenging environments. Needing them to maintain performance and tackle more strenuous activities.
Therefore, Audeo Life gives you the confidence that your hearing aid, no matter the conditions, will always provide optimum hearing performance and connectivity. You can also gain Health Data Tracking features. This means you can access health performance indicators like counting your steps, showing you your activity levels and gaining access to set your own health goals for better well-being and overall health.
Phonak Audeo Life, of course, isn't the first waterproof hearing aid - it's the first rechargeable waterproof hearing aid. Before Life, there was the Signia/Siemens Aquaris which is now discontinued. The Aquaris was overall a good hearing aid designed to not only be resistant to dust and moisture but also completely waterproof up to 1m for 30 minutes (IP68 rating) and a good level of features and wireless capability.

With Audeo Fit, Phonak has developed a hearing solution that balances better hearing (vital for good well-being and cognitive health), Paradise technology features, universal connectivity and health tracking to allow for greater insights on well-being and to support overall health in the future.
Even though Phonak is not the first hearing aid manufacturer to offer a 'healthable' hearing solution (Starkey Livio introduced this concept), it is the first digital hearing aid to provide a heart rate sensor.
Key features:
• Heart rate sensor
• Track steps and activity levels
• myPhonak app designed to instigate better health habits
• Crisp and natural sound
• Brilliant speech understanding
• Connects to iPhone, Android, TV, Roger and more
• Multiple Bluetooth connections and universal connectivity
• Tap control for Bluetooth functionalities
In the audiology industry we know that hearing loss is linked to cognitive and overall health and if hearing loss is left untreated can hugely affect cognitive function. The industry also recognises and studies show that those with hearing loss generally move less. With the absence of regular exercise, mental and physical health is threatened.

The Phonak Audeo Fit hearing aid is a lithium-ion rechargeable RIC / Receiver In Canal device, which caters for those with mild to severe hearing loss levels. The new receiver has a built-in heart rate sensor which will work together with the motion sensor technology to deliver your activity data tracking feature for helpful well-being and health insights.
This is the range's entry-level hearing aid and would benefit those who want some assistance hearing speech in relatively quiet listening situations, a bit of background noise and for watching TV.
A good option for those who want more help with background noise, but who might have a bit of a budget too. This performance level and above introduces Motion Sensors for a more focused and natural sound.
This device features all the above and some additions like the Tap Control feature and for those who enjoy being outdoors - Wind Noise Management. There is also an automatic music program for music lovers to access.
This is the top specification and includes built-in Speech Enhancer and Dynamic Noise Cancellation features. The ideal choice for those with active lifestyles who go through various tricky listening environments everyday and want their hearing aids to keep up with seamless environment transitions.

Are Phonak Paradise hearing aids any good? We asked our audiologists for patient feedback and reviews of Phonak Paradise hearing aids and here is what we received:
Look & Fit: A nice modern look, like Marvel, that sits well on the ear.
Charging System: Like Marvel, Paradise uses a desktop charger and does not currently include a convenient charging case like Resound - this has disappointed some patients looking for freedom and a portable system.
Tap Control: Patients have found the tap control feature easy to use for true hands-free calls and have enjoyed exploring accessing the Siri and Alexa features with the voice assistants feature.
Sound Experience: Because of Phonak's AutoSense 4.0, the sound management system seems to be better - automatically changing features easily. Patients who have worn Marvel hearing aids before Paradise thought the sound was much better, as previously calls had sometimes been bothersome.
Motion Sensors: Patients saw the impact of the sensors in Paradise and simply noticed that they turned their heads to hear conversation less whilst on the move.
Connectivity: They liked that they could pair up to eight Bluetooth devices and once they did - they were stored. Being able to use two at the same time has also shown benefits.
Dynamic Noise Cancellation: We have been told that a few customers have used this feature often to give their hearing a boost in places where the background noise is challenging. It simply made a difference and helped them to hear better.
